Calling All Artists!
The Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) is pleased to accept applications from established, emerging, and local artists who wish to exhibit at Darfield Artweek 2020, running this year from Saturday, 10 October to Sunday, 18 October 2020. Application forms are now available at Te Huanui Art Gallery in Darfield, 17 South Terrace, or on our website: malvernarts.org.nz/artweek
“Darfield Artweek is an annual celebration of art that attracts entries as many as 140 artists in Selwyn District, the city of Christchurch, and countrywide. We expect to exhibit about 300 artworks in the Darfield Recreation Centre”, said Malvern Community Arts Council Chair, Philip Baldwin. “At the same time we will showcase some stunning paintings and 3D works by artist members of Arts Canterbury at Te Huanui Art Gallery in Darfield.”
The Artweek Committee is grateful to local businesses and the Friends of MCAC for their support of Artweek, especially in a challenging economic climate. Their generosity ensures that Artweek can continue to make awards, including the $2000 MCAC Premier Award, which will be announced at the opening night function on Friday, 9 October, at 7pm. Opening night tickets for the general public can be purchased for $20, either in advance or at the door.
Entry to both of Darfield Artweek’s exhibition spaces is free from Saturday, 10 October to Sunday, 18 October, allowing everyone to visit and appreciate the breadth of artistic talent that Artweek attracts.
