The Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) is looking forward to celebrating 40 years of community art exhibitions when we kick off Darfield Artweek 2021 with our Opening Night gala on Friday, 8 October, 7pm at Darfield Recreation Centre. This year’s judge, who has yet to be confirmed, will announce the winner of the $2000 Premier Award. An array of additional awards, generously donated by local sponsors, will also be presented.
“We have been grateful at the level of sponsorship that local businesses and individuals have given Darfield Artweek through the years, and especially following the financial challenges experienced by many people through the past year of challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic”, Philip Baldwin, Chairperson of MCAC, said.
Darfield Artweek 2021 will include two exhibitions. The Darfield Rec Centre will showcase works of art in a variety of media from artists representing Selwyn,
Christchurch, and New Zealand.
Te Huanui Art Gallery in Darfield is featuring a variety of
artworks by selected artists who have contributed to our community exhibitions over the years. Art on exhibit in both locations will be available for sale, to be picked up at the conclusion of the exhibitions.
